  • Hannah McQuay

    PRACTICUM STUDENT

    Hannah is a master’s level student completing her degree in clinical social work through the University of Calgary. She completed her Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree in Psychology at the University of Winnipeg, then went on to complete her animal-assisted wellness certification through Lakeland College.

    Hannah has 10 years of experience working within the social service field including front-line child & youth care, alternative education programming, Child and Family Services, and Jordan’s Principle. These experiences have highlighted the importance of flexibility, collaboration, and meeting clients where they are.

    Hannah has an eclectic approach to practice and incorporates learning from client-focused, strength-based, and trauma-informed care approaches

    Hannah is inspired by modalities such as Narrative Therapy, Systems Theory, and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy. Hannah believes in the power of connection to support the wellness and resiliency of individuals and families.

  • Jennifer Stewart

    PRACTICUM STUDENT, BHEc., BEd, PBDE-C, MACP

    Jennifer Stewart graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Human Ecology and a Bachelor of Education. Jennifer has completed a PBDE in Counselling and has since begun her Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University.

    Jennifer has worked in the field of education for 15 years working with children and adolescents including the last six years as a school counsellor. This work has included counselling in areas of anxiety, ADHD, trauma, anger, self-harm, autism, OCD, and self-regulation.

    Jennifer is passionate about working with youth, adults, and couples. Affecting positive change and growth in people is a beautiful thing. Jennifer is approachable and easy to talk to, offering nonjudgmental support while holding space that is inclusive and comforting for all people.

  • Shannon Braun

    PRACTICUM STUDENT

    Shannon is a counselling student completing her degree in the Master of Education: Guidance and Counselling program at Brandon University. She is a Student Member, in good standing, of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). Shannon also completed her Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) and Bachelor of Education degrees, and her Post Baccalaureate in Counselling at the University of Winnipeg.

    Shannon values self-expression and engages with the expressive arts to support personal growth and healing. Shannon completed her Expressive Arts Therapy (ExAT) certification through the WHEAT Institute. She is learning more about the healing power of all animals and is working towards her Child-Centered Animal-Assisted Therapy (CCAAT) certification.

  • Sarah Fredericks

    MACP PRACTICUM STUDENT, B. Ed

    Sarah is a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) practicum student at Yorkville University. In July 2023, Sarah completed the Fundamentals of CCAATP (Child-Centered Animal Assisted Therapy Program) course and will complete her certification as a Child-Centered Animal-Assisted Therapist by the end 2024.

    Sarah received her Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Winnipeg. She has been a teacher for 26 years, specializing in visual arts and it as a healing modality with her students.

    Sarah uses a person-centred approach to counselling that is tailored to fit individual needs. She creates a non-judgemental and safe space where she collaborates with her clients and utilizes their strengths to set and evaluate goals on a regular basis. Sarah wants to empower people to make positive changes in their lives and be their authentic selves.
